Vipers’ St. Mary’s stadium to host games under flood lights
St. Mary’s stadium, Kitende could become Uganda’s second stadium after Namboole to host football matches under flood lights.
The development which is expected to start as early next month was revealed by club president Lawrence Mulindwa during the unveiling of the new coach – Roberto Luiz Bianchi Beto Pelliser on Tuesday.
“At the moment, we are installing flood lights at the stadium and very soon, we shall be able to host matches at night,” revealed Mulindwa.
Although he didn’t hint at the time when this will be possible, close sources at Kitende indicate that it’s as soon next month when the second round of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League begins.
The Venoms, Uganda’s representatives in the Caf Champions League are also expected to host continental games at the stadium in the night.
The UPL hasn’t been able to host night matches since Namboole went under renovation.
